The short version: Tankly does not collect, store, or transmit your personal data. Everything stays on your phone.
Your Data Stays With You
Tankly is built with privacy as a priority. All your data — fuel entries, odometer readings, vehicle details, and settings — is stored locally on your device in the app's private storage. None of this information is sent to any server, cloud service, or third party.
What We Store on Your Device
- Your vehicle name, tank capacity, units of measurement, and currency preference
- Fuel fill entries, trip logs, and odometer readings you enter
- Your light or dark theme choice
- A flag indicating whether you've dismissed update notifications
This data is stored in the app's local storage only. It is not shared, transmitted, backed up to any external service, or visible to other apps on your device.
What We Don't Collect
- No location data or GPS access
- No contact information
- No account, email address, or password
- No browsing or app usage analytics
- No device identifiers or advertising IDs (beyond what AdMob may use — see below)
- No payment information
Permissions
Tankly does not request access to your camera, contacts, location, microphone, files, or any other sensitive data on your device. The only network access used is to silently check for app updates from our update server. This check sends no personal information — it only downloads a small text file with the latest version number.
Update Checks
When you open Tankly, the app sends a single anonymous request to our update server to check whether a newer version is available. This request contains no personal data — your IP address may be temporarily visible in standard server logs (as with any internet request) but is not stored, analyzed, or linked to you.
Data Deletion
You can erase all stored data at any time by tapping "Reset All Data" in the app's Settings screen. Uninstalling the app from your device also removes all stored data permanently. We cannot delete data on your behalf because we do not have access to it.
Third-Party Services
Tankly may display advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob is a service operated by Google and may collect anonymous device identifiers, IP addresses, and ad interaction data to serve relevant advertisements. This data collection is governed by Google's privacy policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.
You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device's settings:
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization
Children's Privacy
Tankly is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, regardless of age. If you believe a child has provided information through our app in error, please contact us so we can clarify.
Data Security
Because your data never leaves your device, it benefits from the same security as your phone itself. We recommend keeping your device locked with a PIN, pattern, or biometric authentication. We do not have access to your data and cannot recover it if your device is lost or damaged.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of Tankly after changes means you accept the updated policy.
Contact Us
If you have questions, concerns, or feedback about this Privacy Policy or how Tankly handles your data, please reach out through the Play Store contact link on our app listing. We read every message.
